The Liszt-Garrison Festival and International Piano Competition
Awareness of the impact of music in society and its ability to elevate and inspire the human spirit has inhabited the hearts of musicians past and present. Franz Liszt’s philosophy has been embraced by the American Liszt Society and is reflected in the Baltimore Washington Chapter bi-annual festival and piano competition. The Chapter’s mission is to encourage the next generation of performing artists by providing a forum for presentations and music making. The event has lured promising young musicians, artists, presenters, and contestants from around the world.

The Emerson String Quartet stands alone in the history of string quartets with an unparalleled list of achievements over three decades: thirty acclaimed recordings produced with Deutsche Grammophon since 1987, eight Grammy® Awards (including two for Best Classical Album, an unprecedented honor for a chamber music group), three Gramophone Awards, the coveted Avery Fisher Prize and cycles of the complete Beethoven, Bartók, Mendelssohn and Shostakovich string quartets in the world's musical capitals.
